Tonight, my klutzy self fell the wrong way (as though there is ever a right way to fall for me). I fell and slammed onto the floor, now my elbow and shoulder is pretty messed up. I can’t lift my left arm or straighten my left elbow and sprained the same ankle again.
On a brighter note mom made muffins tonight! After dinner of Chicken Porridge, Hong Kong Fried Noodles and Hor Fun from Evertop. She tested out the brand spanking new kitchen toy that my brother bought for her, a Tefal personal pie maker. The best thing about this machine is that you’re not limited to just individual pies! You can bake cakes, quiches, muffins or even cookies in it!
Mom figured the simplest recipe to try out would be muffins and came up with a pretty yummy result. Bananas, yuzu, raisins, honey and oats muffins were pretty scrumptious !
So the thing about the pie maker is that you could only bake about four muffins at one time. It came out with pretty smooth toasty domes but still with a moist interior, and not so dark undersides. She tried using the machine a second time and the underside of the muffins were just slightly tan.
There was still quite a lot of batter left, that she was able to make a dozen muffins in the muffin tray in the oven. The ones baked in the oven had a toastier underside coz she slathered butter in the pans 😀 They didn’t have the smooth domes like the ones made in the pie maker, but had the typical look of a craggy “mountain top”.
I guess the pie maker machine is pretty useful if for example you’re living in a dorm or on your own and want something homemade to snack that’s ready in minutes and you don’t have an oven. I have to admit the machine bakes pretty fast. Utilizing an oven is more time efficient since you can bake more at one time, and you can always freeze the leftovers in the freezer.
I’ve got muffins for a midnight snack, a mug of hot Chinese tea and medicated plasters slapped on my aching body. I’m a happier camper now then I was earlier in the night!
