NaPoWriMo Post #22 The Sea

Today is Earth Day, and for day 22 of NaPoWriMo, a poem about the sea surrounding my island of Singapore, I present to you.

The Sea

My little sunny island sets in the sea
Surrounded by mysterious deep waters
Aquamarine, glittering in the late afternoon sun
Tiny waves crash upon the shore repeatedly
Like a lullaby to lull you gently to sleep

The tranquility of the sea
Evokes a peaceful emotion
When you gaze upon it
Without realizing that it has secrets
Within it’s deep cold blue waters
Red snapper, marlins and sharks
Swim abound

Across the vast cold open sea
Big ships anchored not too far away
As the sun slowly sets
Lights from the ships light up at dusk
Twinkling fairy lights against the darkening purple sky
