NaPoWriMo Post #2 Lemons

The prompt for day 2 of NaPoWriMo is to write a poem about a lie. My lemon tree is 4 feet high and hasn’t borne any fruit for the past two years. I guess this is more of what I hope it would be when it eventually grows bigger.

Come sit under the shade of this lemon tree
The fruits it bears tastes like sunshine
Breath in the scent of these yellow beauties
Citrusy and bright gems amongst the leaves
Squeeze out the juices and slake your thirst
Zest the rind and perfume your foods
And once we’ve plucked all the lemons away
We’ll wait till it bears fruits again one day

Lemons are such a refreshing fruit that just reading your post makes it so I almost taste them! Now I want to go make lemonade!
