Sunday Brunch at Penny University

Sundays are usually characterized by sleeping in till 10am and waking up to a wide array of foods from Geylang Serai Market. Favourites like Soto Ayam, Nasi Lemak bungkus, Rojak India and Laksa are usually Sunday breakfast staples in our household. Today, my brother and I decided to have a change, we woke up early and headed to Penny University for a different kind of brunch.

At 10.45 am the cafe was already buzzing! It’s a pretty cozy cafe, refurbished furniture looks pretty nice! There were quite a few families and we waited for a while to get a seat. My brother didn’t quite know what to order. They have a pretty interesting menu which you can check out at Penny University . You place your order at the counter, make payment and they’ll give you a wooden block etched with a number. Here’s what we ordered: Turkish eggs, cheese toasties with poached eggs and marmite, smoked salmon with cream cheese, capers & dill on sour dough, muddy espresso, English breakfast tea and a chai steamer. My favorite has to be the Turkish eggs, cool yoghurt with hot chilli butter and sourdough soldiers to dip into the eggs. Delicious! The muddy espresso was perfect, totally perked us up! I think it’ll be a pretty nice place to chill out with friends on a weekday. They also serve pies from Windowsill Pies. And if you’re lucky and wake up pretty early, you might be able to snag a Fluff Bakery cupcake!
