Every year, insya’allah , we voluntarily fast for six days in the month of Syawal. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is the fourth pillar of Islam.
This year my family suddenly all had a craving for Thai beef noodle soup, so that’s what we went in search of after prayers. The picture in the left box was from the first cafe. The first café we went to was Bali Thai Cafe located at Ion. Each bowl was filled with generous amount of tender slices of beef. What I enjoyed about this, was that the soup was slurpworthy & the meat was not overcooked and tough. The dish came with a green chilli dipping sauce, simply out of this world.
The next day, we still had the Thai beef noodle cravings. So we went to dad’s favorite hawker, Thaksin Beef Noodles, at Seah Im Food Centre. We reached there about 9.15pm, and were the last customers. The soups here come in a variety of portions. Uncle, mom & I got the value bowls and my brother and dad ordered the super bowls. The middle beef noodle soup is from Thaksin’s. Different cuts of meat make up the bowl, this was the only place that had slices tripe along with “tetel” meat. The rice noodles were soft. Best to order the super sized!
On the third day, we still had the cravings. The rightmost soup was from Siam Kitchen at City Square Mall. This was our family’s favorite between the three places. Firstly the soup was light, naturally sweet and of course slurpworthy ! Secondly, the generous amount of beef in the bowl, tender cuts of meat and meatballs! I especially love the dipping sauce. I hate bean sprouts, but when you’re eating this dish it’s a must to have along with Thai basil for a burst of freshness and crunch!

Wow as a diet control measure? That’s the first I’ve heard anyone doing that with one of my posts haha the open markets have been demolished into multi-storied wet markets, with food and fresh produce on different floors.
