What can be better other then hanging out with your family on a Friday night at Terminal 2? Korean BBQ Short Beef Ribs! I love ribs, and most especially beef ribs. Mom usually uses beef ribs to make Rawon, a kind of a dark stew that uses buah keluak a black and bitter nut in which we only use the flesh of the nut, while with mutton ribs she makes dalcha with lots of brinjal and ladysfingers. So that’s why when we eat out, I make it a point to order ribs cooked in a different manner, like at Breeks with a sweet and tangy barbeque sauce or at JWOK with a thick sweet glaze. At Fresh Bulgogi all meat are served to you raw. They provide a set of 3 sauces, I think one’s garlic, the other is probably green chilli and corriander and gojuchang sauce which is a thick red and sweet bean paste. You can either dip the ribs into the sauce and lay it on the griddle and hear the sweet sounds of meat sizzling. Or you could just be like me, just pure meat, unadulterated beefy goodness
I like my meat cooked till medium, when you bite into them, it just melts like butter. Hmmm ribs can’t wait to have some soon

The Birthday boy's sizzling pan Apple Crumble
This year we celebrated Adik’s 23rd birthday at Earle’s with really great steaks and sausages. The meat was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. We ordered Charbroiled T-bone steaks, Grilled Lobster pasta, Surf and Turf, Grilled Cod with Rice, Poultry Combo, Mango Shrimps, Baked Ocean Mussels and for dessert, an Apple Crumble in a sizzling pan topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was really yummy. My favourite main I would have to say would be the Poultry Combo. The smoked duck was out of this world and the snail sausage was soooo good. The smoked duck didn’t taste gamey at all, perfectly smoked…wishing I had some now
I’ve always found Earle to provide a much better selection then its normal outlets. The cuts of meat here were much better then the ones I tried at outlets in the city where it was either overcooked, dry and frankly quite a dissapointment despite requesting for a medium steak. It’s been six months since we’ve been to Vivocity, wonder when are we going to Earle’s again though.

Another Ramadhan

Geylang during Ramadhan
It’s been almost a year since my last post. It seems this year I haven’t been eating out much at all. So other then forgetting my password and not going much, I haven’t had the inspiration to blog about anything. This year’s Ramadhan, the bazaar at Geylang seemed to be too overcrowded more so than last year. Usually, I’d be craving for all sorts of snacks and tidbits but somehow this fasting month, I don’t want to eat much of anything. Perhaps because I’ve been sick and all the meds are killing my tastebuds. Instead of thinking of food ever so often, I’ve been reading the Yassin. This will be the first Eid without my Grandfather, I wonder how it’s going to be. Ramadhan without him is already very sad. Anyways, the celebratory feeling of Eid festivities is lost for me, it just makes me morose then usual.
