This year we celebrated Adik’s 23rd birthday at Earle’s with really great steaks and sausages. The meat was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. We ordered Charbroiled T-bone steaks, Grilled Lobster pasta, Surf and Turf, Grilled Cod with Rice, Poultry Combo, Mango Shrimps, Baked Ocean Mussels and for dessert, an Apple Crumble in a sizzling pan topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was really yummy.  My favourite main I would have to say would be the Poultry Combo. The smoked duck was out of this world and the snail sausage was soooo good. The smoked duck didn’t taste gamey at all, perfectly smoked…wishing I had some now :)  I’ve always found Earle to provide a much better selection then its normal outlets. The cuts of meat here were much better then the ones I tried at outlets in the city where it was either overcooked, dry and frankly quite a dissapointment despite requesting for a medium steak. It’s been six months since we’ve been to Vivocity, wonder when are we going to Earle’s again though.

Cottage Waffle Place

After looking for my cousin Nabil’s  birthday present, a Ben 10 voice changer 2 which was sold out all over but ToysRus. Called them this morning to reserve the toy and picked it up, exhausted and in need of a refreshment. I saw this little cafe located at Suntec City’s MYPLAYGround, the smell of freshly made waffles were enticing. I plonked my stuff beside me, and sat on this little rickety stool. My suggestion to this place is that the fixtures need to be changed, a more stable chair perhaps and a proper knife instead of a butter knife?  Service was prompt and the staff were on hand when one needed them. I ordered an Affogato, despite it being a single shot, it was still quite strong. I guess that’s probably due to  the fact that I hadn’t had any caffeine since Menottis closed.  I ordered waffles with Almond ice cream. The waffles were a tad crispy, I’d prefer it to be on the softer/fluffier side, like the ones from Gelare’s or the liege waffles from The Sweet Stone Paradise.  I have been making waffles myself for the past few years, and their waffles were somewhat similar to mine sans the almost breaking my braces effect.  I’ll come back again to check out their fondue which looked rather interesting. Their affogato was good but strong, but it’s certainly something that’ll draw me back there.

Canele at Raffle’s City

Here’s a cozy place to hang out over cakes and ice cream. First and foremost I adore the cakes here especially the Caraibe  a cube of decadent chocolate cake, enveloped by a thick chocolate shell and as you pierce through the outer layer, there’s heavenly honest to goodness the yummiest ganache I’ve tasted inside. Other then the selection of cakes, there’s a selection of handmade chocolates which are to die for and of course their Macarons. Their frangrant rose and sinful chocolate macarons win hands down when compared to Gobi’s miniature selections. Although, Bakerzin’s macaron selection is as delectable and might I dare say surpass Canele’s. Anyways back to what else was there to order during one of our usual tête à tête sessions. We decided to try the Oreo Cheesecake and the pink piece de la resistance: L’amour which was a rose petal ice cream with lychee pieces and dressed with raspberry coulis and rose meringue sticks. Divine!!!
