So this morning we had a delivery of helmets to ITE Simei. The appointment was at 9am, I slept at 630am, so I incoherently told my brother, “mmpf cannot open maa eyes lah”. Or something along the lines of that. So mom, bro and dad went instead. So when I eventually could open my eyes at 10am, they were still not back yet. So I decided to make my brekky, grilled cheese toast which I have been craving since I watched an episode of “Man Vs Food Nation”, was not a success coz the pan was too hot. Who screws up grilled cheese? Me apparently , still it was some what edible and cheesy. Mom came home half hour later freaking out that she might have left something burning on the stove. I shouted out, nah just me your bimbotic daughter. Mom saved the day, she bought me lots for brekky. Laksa and my favourite, mini sausage rolls! So these sausage rolls are from Swee Heng, a Chinese bakery with halal certification from MUIS. They’re located at Geylang Serai Market. I think they have quite a few bakeries dotted all over our little red dot (Singapore). Anyways back to the sausage rolls, they’re like puffy soft pillows. Unlike their Australian counterpart which uses puff pastry, this was using a sweet bread roll. Yumminess!

Chicken Ban Mian
There’s a little stall snuggled between the char kway teow & the prata stall in Citu Square Mall’s Banquet. I have to admit that this stall has one of the best chicken ban mian. A close second, I’d say would be the Ban Mian from the Fork & Spoon in Toa Payoh. The soup at City Square Mall, has a natural sweetness to it, that you can’t help slurping on the soup after all the noodles are gone. Perhaps, the savoy cabbage makes a difference in making the soup a tastier one. Definitely, a must try if you crave for something comforting, especially on such a cold & rainy Sunday like today.
Satay at Jalan Masjid

Satay on a diet?
Tonight, mummy had a craving for rojak, went around Haig Road and it was sold out. Then daddy recommended Noor Jannah at Jalan Masjid, and yes, it was sold out as well. Go figure, why was everyone’s rojak sold out? So adik called me on the mobile and asked if I wanted satay, what a question to ask. I love my meat, especially marinated, skewered and barbecued on a charcoal grill. Some people say size isn’t everything, I guess the chicken meat and the mutton shrank a tad on the grill and charred at the end. Well it shrank more then a tad. Anyways, the satay wasn’t too bad, I’d have prefered it to be left marinated longer, there seemed to be missing something. Also it didn’t come with the sauce, my gauge of yumminess depends on the peanut sauce of the satay and whether it complements the meat well. Hmm didn’t get it, won’t know it, but would probably give it another go. Diagonnally across the street right beside Shell station there’s Al-Amin, je suis desole mais je ne veux pas manger ici, mais the satay by Hadi there is damn shiok. The pieces of meat on the stick are thick, well cooked and not charred, also the satay sauce there complements the meat really well, sweet and peanutty and thick. Hadi also has really good Otah…hmmm I can just imagine it now. sigh… Or the thick chicken satay from Ayam Bakar Ojolali which are smothered in kicap manis and dipped in yummy peanut sauce mmmmmmmmm hmm not surprisingly I’m hungry again.
