The Birthday boy's sizzling pan Apple Crumble
This year we celebrated Adik’s 23rd birthday at Earle’s with really great steaks and sausages. The meat was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. We ordered Charbroiled T-bone steaks, Grilled Lobster pasta, Surf and Turf, Grilled Cod with Rice, Poultry Combo, Mango Shrimps, Baked Ocean Mussels and for dessert, an Apple Crumble in a sizzling pan topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was really yummy. My favourite main I would have to say would be the Poultry Combo. The smoked duck was out of this world and the snail sausage was soooo good. The smoked duck didn’t taste gamey at all, perfectly smoked…wishing I had some now
I’ve always found Earle to provide a much better selection then its normal outlets. The cuts of meat here were much better then the ones I tried at outlets in the city where it was either overcooked, dry and frankly quite a dissapointment despite requesting for a medium steak. It’s been six months since we’ve been to Vivocity, wonder when are we going to Earle’s again though.

I found another fabulous halal restaurant in the states that I thought I should share . Open Sesame serves Lebanese cuisine in a middle eastern atmosphere, apparently the chef graduated from a famous culinary school in Lebnon. The atmosphere in the restaurant was utterly crowded perhaps because of the lunch crowd, but it was a beautifully decorated place. The servings were huge, simply tantalising, we had a huge plate of starters and tried the lamb chops and the fillet mignon, oh my oh my so sedap! muy delicioso! So different from the middle eastern cuisine in Singapore. The fillet mignon was so tender and juicy, and the lamb chops were grilled to perfection with a creme sauce that was delightful. Not to forget there’s always salad to balance our meals. One of our best finds in Long Beach and it was just a few streets away from my friend Erik’s place

One of their best waitress is Mary, she’s very helpful and knowledgeable about what’s best to try and which desserts are the best, she recommended badam khulfi served with baklava fingers for me, too bad didn’t have a picture of it ‘coz everyone started eating it once its served. Their mint ice tea was refreshing and is a must try. if you travelling through Long Beach do stop by and check Open Sesame out, you won’t regret it!

I travel quite often to the states and one of the best finds of halal food places I found there was the Brick Dome Pizza. It tastes so different from the typical pizza’s we have had in Singapore, with pesto chicken pizza and so much more. ‘Nuff said, I’ll be back there again. Owners are Muslim, Algerian if I’m not wrong, coz they were speaking in French in the kitchen. But the pizzas nontheless were tres fantastique!
